Happy St. Patty’s Day!

I didn’t want to celebrate with green beer, or anything with apple pucker, crème de menthe, or midori -what’s more Irish than Irish whiskey? (Other than perhaps a Guinness!) This take on a whiskey sour gets its zip from fresh ginger and sweetness from apricot jam.


from: Food + Wine
makes: 1 drink

2 thin, fresh ginger slices
1 teaspoon apricot jam
¼ ounce fresh lemon juice
2 ounces Irish Whiskey
½ ounce Grand Marnier
1 lemon twist


In a cocktail shaker, muddle the ginger with the jam and lemon juice.


Add ice, the whiskey and  Grand Marnier; shake well. Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass. Garnish with the lemon twist.
