Oh my. What a delicious concoction. This martini might be a bit much for happy hour, but it makes an amazing drinkable dessert. (I categorized it under cocktails & desserts!) It’s a delectable after dinner drink and would be perfect for a special occasion. David and I sipped ours as we decorated our Christmas tree. It’s a must try! Don’t worry about purchasing the spirits and being afraid you might not use them up, once you taste this you will.
adapted from: 101 Martinis
makes 1 martini
1 oz Kahlúa
1 ½ oz chilled espresso
½ oz Stoli Vanil vodka
½ oz white crème de cacao
1 oz light cream
½ oz simple syrup
1 egg white (optional, adds frothiness)
chocolate shavings, for garnish
Combine the Kahlúa and chilled espresso directly in the martini glass. Next, combine the vanilla vodka, white crème de cacao, light cream, simple syrup, and egg white (optional) in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously. Strain carefully into the martini glass so that it layers on top of the espresso. You can pour over a spoon so that it layers more easily. Sprinkle with chocolate shavings.
