You can never go wrong with a cozy blanket and Pottery Barn always has great ones. I’m especially into plaid this year.
Need a gift that keeps on giving? Bespoke Post is a customizable monthly box curated for men (although there’s a lot of things I like!). It has made a lovely gift for my husband. He has gotten some pretty cool things like a barrel aging kit, wool blanket, high quality and well-fitting flannel shirts and Bluetooth earbuds that he loves.
Los Poblanos is a lovely boutique inn and lavender farm in Albuquerque New Mexico. I loved visiting in person when my family lived in the area. There is now a farm to fork restaurant, so I need to get back for a visit! The Farm Shop is always a great place for gift shopping (for others and yourself!) and is the only place I get my chile flakes from. Their amazing lavender honey completes any cheese plate when drizzled over a nice stilton (or yogurt, or toast, or anything really).
I’m a lip balm junkie and I have tried so, so many. There are about 5 that really work for me without needing to constantly reapply, and this is one of them. Tatcha is an amazing skin care line and is one of my favorite brands. Their lip balm with camellia oil keeps my lips from getting dry and flaky and is pretty close to perfect. I love using the empty jars for decanting products for travel.
Lips are not the only thing to shrivel in the cold, dry, winter months. David loves this hand cream. It smells nice, sinks in quickly, there is no greasy residue (which is a deal breaker for him), and completely eliminates “lizard hands”. I love it too and am often raiding his bedside drawer to slather it on my hands.
In a home like ours with deplorable cell service, extremely fast WiFI is a must. The 3 pack of Google Home WiFi increased our bandwidth speed by 300% vs our old router system. A practical gift, but necessary!
High West does a superb job of blending different whiskies, and Bourye is a lovely example of their meticulous blending prowess. Small amounts of rye are added to the bourbon to cut the sweetness, and add just enough spiciness for a well rounded sip. A favorite in our house.
True Cubes may just be the perfect gift. I could write odes to it and the beautiful, crystal clear ice cubes it makes. David and I have tried for years to get clear ice cubes at home to no avail. When this came around we were ecstatic (what can I say? We’re cocktail nerds). There is something blissful about seeing the bottom of your glass whilst drinking your favorite old fashioned. We have probably gifted this more than anything else. All you need is hot tap water and a freezer.
Life Before True Cubes.
Life After True Cubes.
I love the idea of travel sized essential oils for ease of use on trips. I rely on essential oils to help keep us healthy and well during cold season.
Artisan Tahini from a women-owned business? Yes please. If you’re a tahini lover like me, these are amazing in hummus, halva, and tahini chocolate chip cookies!
One can always used an ultra-lightweight packable backpack when one goes on a trip and typically comes home with more than they left with. 🙂
If some of the things you come home from a trip with are bottles of wine, you need these.
I’ve included these leashes on my gift guides in the past, but that’s because they’re the best! Winston’s has been used multiple times a day for 1 1/2 years, and honestly it still looks brand new. I never have to worry about cheap parts breaking when he lunges after a squirrel. A thoughtful gift for the dog lover in your life.
I think nice hand soaps and candles make great hostess gifts, and Panier Des Sens makes really nice ones. An apothecary near me sells them, so it’s nice to be able to smell them first, but the citrus-y Provence and the floral Precious Jasmine are two of my favorites. An added bonus for me is they don’t exacerbate dry hands.
I received this beautiful candle from my sister, and it smells amazing and burns nice and slowly. It comes with an extinguishing lid and a box of matches. Himalayan Red Spruce is perfect for this time of year as it smells just like Christmas.
We love our Intelligentsia beans, but are so happy that Madcap now delivers. Delicious coffee from Grand Rapids.
