Sweet Savannah Cocktail

A year or two ago as I was flipping through a People magazine, I came across a cocktail that looked delicious. It was a mason jar filled with a refreshing looking cocktail with leaves of mint floating in it. Apparently the place to get this cocktail was in the Hamptons at SL East. Well, I can’t say I get out to the Hamptons much, (oh wait, I’ve never been to the Hamptons.) so I was disappointed that they didn’t mention how to make the Sweet Savannah. But…..I did find an online video of Colin Maxwell making the cocktail from Abe & Arthurs (which is in the same restaurant group as SL East.) It was sweet, gently tart, and refreshing all at once, with a unique, fleeting flavor at the end. Besides black tea, Absolut Wild Tea vodka also has hints of elderflower, red apple, and citrus. It has a smooth, floral taste. It is rather unique, but I liked it. If you prefer a more “straight forward” tea flavor, try Firefly Sweet Tea vodka instead, and reduce the simple syrup to ¼ ounce. (I liked both, but David preferred his with the Firefly.)

from: Abe & Arthurs
serves: 1

2 ounces Absolut Wild Tea
1 ounce white peach puree or peach nectar
¾ ounce simple syrup
¾ ounce fresh-squeezed lemon juice
4 dashes Fee Brothers peach bitters
pieces of torn, fresh mint

Combine the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice. Pour into an 8 ounce glass.
