Persian Warmer

I have to quote from the book as the description of this drink is perfect.

Thank you Carly for this beautiful book. The Persian Warmer is the first drink I’ve made from it and I think it is the best hot drink I’ve ever had in my life.

slightly adapted from: Winter Cocktails: Mulled Ciders, Hot Toddies, Punches, Pitchers, and Cocktail Party Snacks

serves: 2

1 tablespoon green cardamom pods, crushed
2 cups milk (2% or whole)
1 tablespoon freshly grated orange zest
4 oz white chocolate, finely chopped
pinch of salt
1 teaspoon fresh orange juice
3 ounces Grand Marnier

Place cardamom in a medium saucepan. Stir over medium heat until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Add milk and orange zest and bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let steep for 15 minutes.

Strain mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl and discard solids. Return milk to saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat and then reduce heat to medium-low. Add white chocolate and salt and stir until chocolate is completely melted.

Remove from heat and stir in orange juice and Grand Marnier. Serve in warmed mugs. Sip and fall in love.
