Mocha With Baileys

This is one of my favorite drinks to sip when the weather turns cool, there’s a nip in the air, and the smell of burning leaves and fireplace smoke wafts through the air. When David and I were living in downtown Cincinnati we would often frequent the Blind Lemon which is a seemingly magical and cozy bar with an almost secretive entrance located between two tall brick buildings. The interior is small, warm and cozy, and reminds me of a tavern that Frodo and Sam might frequent. They have a drink called Blind Baileys, which is essentially coffee, hot cocoa, and Baileys. I think I’ve gotten my version pretty close to theirs. Feel free to use the hot cocoa of your choice. Rich and decadent (think Ghirardelli, Godiva, or Jacques Torres) is always delicious, but most of the time I use Nestle Dark Chocolate mix which can be made with water and isn’t too bad for an inexpensive brand. Feel free to experiment with other Baileys options too, they have Baileys With A Hint Of Coffee, and Baileys With A Hint Of Caramel. So throw some logs in the fireplace, pull that soft throw over your lap, and happy sipping!

3 oz prepared hot cocoa
3 oz hot coffee
dash of cream
2 oz original Bailey’s Irish Cream

Into an Irish coffee mug pour the hot cocoa, coffee, dash of cream, and Baileys. Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
